There's alot of different ways to create textured photos, but they all sort of follow the same idea...working with layers in Photoshop....so here's a few tutorial links for you so you can get the basic idea.

Textures

I worked with textures in photoshop again today. I used one of my favorite photos, it's of a Friesian gelding I photographed for a friend's client quite a few years back.

I'm really enjoying working with textures, you can see some of the other pieces I've created in this set on Flickr HERE.

I'm thinking of blogging about using textures, how I do it, etc. There's about a million ways you can go about texturing your images, so I'll link you up to a few of those tutorial sites. I'll be back blogging soon.

In the meantime, I'm off to Sanibel Island tomorrow to do some nature shooting with a flickr friend :)

Burrowing Owls

So I had heard there were burrowing owls in one of my favorite wildlife spots so a few weeks ago I went to check it out...and found...NOTHING. I knew they were there, as a friend had gotten some shots of them, so I tried again this past Saturday, also meeting up with a flickr friend there, too.

I was so excited to get more shots of these guys than I even dreamed of!

I got so many shots that I did a few dioramas (I guess that's what they're called) in photoshop. First up is of one of the Burrowing Owls shaking herself (or himself).

Second up is of a Burrowing Owl regurgitating a 'pellet'. Read more about what exactly an owl pellet is right HERE.

And if you'd like a closer look at this gross (but kinda cool) event, here you go...

DIY Camera Stuff

There's alot of websites out there that show you how to do some interesting things with your camera, whether it's a DSLR or a P&S. And most of the time it's cheap or just about free to do all these modifications at home by yourself. Of course, you may not actually want to do these things, but they're still fun to read about :)

This is a 5"x7" free grunge frame for you. It's in .png format. Just slide your photo on a layer underneath using a program that works with .png files (such as photoshop).

More macro with the Sigma 70-300mm

Took some more macro shots today in my yard with the Sigma 70-300mm lens.

Found a Katydid on the horse's bucket... (thanks to my buddy Missi on Flickr for the I.D.)

And a busy bee...

And a Hoverfly yesterday:

Pretty good stuff for a lens that costs about $120.00 :)
